Castelbajac is a vibrant and unique brand that represents French fashion in its most daring forms. The founder of the brand, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, a designer, stylist and artist, created the brand in 1968, launching his first collection with his mother for the Ko and Co company. The first show took place in 1969, where unexpected materials such as sponge and oilcloth were used, causing a real sensation. From the very first steps, Castelbajac embodied creative ideas, breaking established fashion canons. A significant moment for the brand was the 1980s, when Castelbajac presented “painting dresses” created in collaboration with artists such as Loulou Picasso, Robert Combat and Jean-Charles Blais. These works became the embodiment of the union of art and fashion, attracting the attention of collectors and art lovers. In 1982, the brand surprised the public with graffiti designs and a series of "Gulliver clothes" designed for large sizes, as well as "dresses-items". In 1985, Castelbajac signed a contract with K-Way to create stage costumes for singer Eli Medeiros. Castelbajac stage looks were ordered by Alizée and the group Chicks on Speed, and collaborations with the brands Le Coq Sportif and Rossignol strengthened the status of the designer in sports fashion. In 2003, Sarah Jessica Parker chose Castelbajac for filming "Sex and the City", popularizing the brand among a wider audience. Fans of the brand include Beyoncé, Katty Perry, Lady Gaga, Kanye West, Mia and Jay-Z, who nicknamed the designer JC/DC, which became his recognizable pseudonym. Castelbajac is known not only for its clothing, but also for its range of fragrances, which captivate with their modern notes and brightness.
